Aug 20 2020 – May 31 2021 all-day
To all of our Loyal Arts Organizations and Patrons,
After much deliberation, it is the consensus of the Greater Derry Arts Council that possibly subjecting our loyal arts organizations to a dangerous and potentially deadly virus is unacceptable. Protecting our customers from this virus is paramount to us at this point in time and eclipses all other hardships, financial or otherwise.
It is for that reason that the GDAC has decided unanimously (with one abstention) to close the Derry Opera House until further notice. What does “until further notice” mean? When we have the necessary information and guidance from Local, State and Federal health officials that tells us that it is completely safe for people to gather indoors once again, we will work to re-open the house. We all need to remember that this disruption to our lives from this pandemic is temporary even though sometimes it doesn’t feel that way. We hope that a vaccine is soon found. We hope that it will be successful. We hope that things will go back to normal. We need hope and patience. We are asking for your patience and hope you can appreciate the difficult position we are in.
We will use this “dark” time to make several improvements to the house so that when that day comes when we can all return to performing at the Derry Opera House, it will be with several new improvements. Thank you all for your continued loyal patronage and we look forward to a day very soon when we can do what we all love to do…perform, sing, dance, create and entertain at the Derry Opera House!
Best wishes to you all and remain safe,
On behalf of the Trustees of the Greater Derry Arts Council

Every year the dancers at Dance Progressions hosts a benefit dance concert. This concert features many local dance studios and dance teams from local high schools.
This year’s benefit is for Pediatric Cancer Research. They were not going to let a lack of stage stop them from performing and using their talents for others.
Please consider buying a ticket to watch their show, “Virtually Unstoppable”.
